Sonic the Hedgehog XIV: A Moment of Peace
Dedicated to Fena's Pop-pop, who gave us peed-on bacon. (November 28)

	Sonic wanted to cry but he knew it wouldn't be manly of 
him. He hated seeing Tails always crying thinking about Miles. 
He walked towards the house, carrying Sonette's skull. After 
the battle they had left it there. It was his job to get it. He 
walked in to the house and saw Tails looking in a photo 
album. "What's that Tails?"
	"Isn't it obvious? My old photo album."
	Sonic had to keep his patience. "Why are you looking at 
it?"
	"Memories. Of what was before this mess."
	"What mess?"
	Tails looked up, his eyes red. "I became a Freedom 
Fighter. Life was great."
	"What exactly are you saying Tails? Are you saying me 
and my Freedom Fighters aren't worthy of yo-" He stopped 
himself. It appears he was pushing the buttons a little too 
hard.
	"I don't understand why he became a Freedom Keeper 
anyway. Downers and Upers. Terrible."
	"Tails, these past couple of weeks you've been different. 
You used to be funny. Not now."
	Tails slammed the book. "If it hasn't made a dent in your 
tiny size brain my BROTHER IS DEAD AND HE WON'T EVER BE 
BACK! CAN'T YOU SEE THAT? YOUR BROTHER'S SMART 
ENOUGH, HE DIDN'T BECOME A FREEDOM FIGHTER AT AGE 5 
LIKE I DID! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?"
	"I was thinking you had some talent. I wanted you at the 
peak of your condition so when I left you would be there to, 
to take my place."
	Tails pushed Sonic out of the way. "You did a great job 
at that. Look at you, almost 30 and going strong. I'LL BE DEAD 
LIKE MY BROTHER BEFORE YOU LEAVE!"
	He walked out and slammed the door, causing the room 
to shake.

	Kit Panthers walked through the woods, looking for the 
castle. "Robotnik sure can hide something, can't he?" She 
stumbled on a piece of wood and fell onto the ground. 
"AAAAA!" She screamed as the ground underneath of her 
gave way. "Help! Somebody help!" She cried, hoping 
someone would hear her cries. 

	"Sonic, he'll be back. Don't worry," Binx told him, sitting 
on the bed. Sonic was looking out the window in search of 
Tails. 
	"You weren't here Binx. You didn't see how mad he was 
at me. And this wasn't the first time we've had a disagreement."
	Binx was surprised. "It isn't?"
	"No, just a couple of weeks ago we had an argument 
over him wanting to die. It was really an argument, more like 
a depression stage."
	"He's really getting bad."
	Sonic turned around and grabbed his coat. "I got to find 
him!"
	"What's the matter Sonic? He'll come when he's ready."
	Sonic turned around as he ran to the door. "Kit! That 
girl's after Tails! She's probably out there right now looking for 
him or Sonic X. I gotta get him NOW!"
	"Good luck!" Binx said, crossing her fingers.

			Chapter 2

	"Robotnik, the funeral isn't until tomorrow!" Tails X 
protested. 
	"Shut up and walk. The quicker the kill, the lesser the 
guilt."
	Sonic X dragged behind. "Why did I join this idiotic group 
again?" he thought.
	Robotnik pulled out a butcher knife. "We'll go by 
seniority. Hedgehog first, always. Then Binx, Sally, and Tails."
	"Destiny wanted to come, why didn't you let her?" Tails 
X said.
	"She might ruin my plan."
	"Why?" he asked.
	Sonic X rolled his eyes. "Maybe it's because BINX IS HER 
SISTER!!!!!!!!"
	"Oh, you didn't have to yell. Major-o-so attitude 
problems."
	"Look, I didn't come back because I wanted to. I had 
to."
	"Why?" Robotnik asked.
	"Kit would come to my cave and take everything, 
including the potion."
	"Oh, whatever," Robotnik mumbled.
	They walked until they came to the clearing. Tails X 
walked out but Robotnik quickly pulled him back, seeing Tails 
also enter the clearing. "Why does this always happen to us?" 
Tails X inquired.
	"What do you mean?" Robotnik asked.
	"He means we always come when an enemy is there," 
Sonic X said, walking out into the clearing. "Get out Tails. We 
have business to attend to.
	Tails looked up and smiled. "Well, if it isn't the 2nd side of 
this matter. Or are you the 3rd side now? You know, I always 
get confused with you."
	"I am yet another member of Robotnik's pointless group 
of num-skulls," he said, pointing to Robotnik who was hiding 
behind a bush. 
 	"Why?" Tails asked, walking over to him. 
	"Protection."
	"Protection? From them?"
	Sonic ran into the clearing. "WE ALL HAVE TO LEAVE! I 
SAW KIT BACK THERE, STUCK IN A HOLE."
	"My chance," Sonic X said, rubbing his knuckles. "Kill her, 
once and for all."
	"OR SO YA THOUGHT!" a voice called from the woods.
	Sonic X gasped. "Not you!"
	Kit laughed as she jumped onto a rock. "I'm back!"

			Chapter 3

	"You were stuck in that hole!" Sonic yelled.
	Kit jumped down and hugged Sonic. "My big strong 
Sonny, I have powers beyond belief."
	"I CAN'T STAND IT!" Robotnik said, running towards her 
with the butcher knife.
	Kit screamed and shielded her hands. As Robotnik 
approached her, she disappeared. Robotnik was stunned. 
"What the-"
	"OVER HERE SLOW POKE!" Kit said behind him. They all 
turned around and saw Kit standing at the other side of the 
clearing.
	Tails moved back to Sonic, Tails X, Sonic X, and Robotnik. 
Tails X hid behind the bush, right in back of Kit. She had not 
seen him. Robotnik was making gestures with his hand telling 
him to strangle her. Kit looked at him like he was crazy. 
	"Boy, you are loco in the head. Problems at home?"
	Tails X jumped out and wrapped his hands around Kit's 
neck. "Get him off!" Kit managed to say.
	Robotnik and the others ran over and helped Tails X. 
After a few seconds, Tails X didn't feel like he was choking 
anything. "Stop! Get up!" he shouted. Everyone obediently 
backed away. What they saw was astonishing.
	Nothing. 
	Absolutely nothing.
	"She's gone," Sonic said shocked. "Just like before."
	Robotnik laughed. "Are we stupid or what!?"
	No one laughed with him. Tails X let out a little chuckle, 
but only because it was his master. Sonic X turned around 
and ran into the woods. He came back a couple seconds 
later. "She was around before. She could be hearing our 
every word."
	Sonic X stood in the middle of the clearing. "SHE'S TOO 
POWERFUL GUYS! LET'S ALL GO HOME NOW..."
	Robotnik saw that Tails and Sonic had their backs to him. 
He pulled out the butcher knife and walked towards them. 
	"Go get him!" Tails X whispered, patting him on the 
back. Robotnik breathed heavily as he reached Tails. He 
raised the knife and swung it towards the middle of Tail's 
back. 
	"NOOOOO!" Sonic X said, pushing Tails away. Robotnik 
stabbed Sonic X in the leg. 
	"Oh man......oh man....." Sonic X cried in pain.
	Robotnik backed away, waving his hands in the air. "I 
didn't mean it! I meant to hit the fox."
	"Oh man....Oh boy....."
	Tails got up and ran towards Robotnik, trying to grab the 
butcher knife. Sonic pulled Sonic X over to the side.
	"Are you all right?"
	"Hedgehog, get away."
	"Come on, can't I be friendly?"
	"Hedgehog, do I have to hit you?"
	"I get the drift. You and your 3rd side junk."
	Sonic X pulled himself to his feet. "Listen, you just better 
be lucky I saved him. Or we'd be going to a funeral for 2."
	Sonic walked away. "Don't even talk to me. You ruined 
my life."
	"YOU GOT YOUR STUPID GIRLFRIEND AND PARTNER! WHAT 
MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME HEDGEHOG?!"
	"Maybe some peace and quiet," he said, turning 
around.
	"MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET SOME MANNERS!"
	"Maybe I should."
	"I SAVED YOUR PARTNER!"
	"Yeah, thanks."
	Sonic X smiled. "I saved him for one reason."
	"What would that be?"
	"I don't know if I should tell you."
	"You have to, or I'll beat it out of you."
	Sonic X sighed. "Okay, if I must."
	Sonic watched as Sonic X melted into the ground. A 
black ooze formed, and slowly Kit's body began to take form. 
"See who you're playing against?" she said, in her own voice. 

			Chapter 4

	"Where's Sonic X?" he asked.
	Kit laughed as she walked towards Sonic. "Oh, he's a 
little tied up right now."
	"How?"
	"How what? How did I do it? It's simple Sonic. I slipped 
into Sonic X's body. So, when you guys found out I was 
missing, I slipped into the woods, got out of his body, tied him 
up, and transformed into him."
	"But why aren't you black?"
	She smiled as she grabbed Sonic's hand. "I have many 
powers that you don't. I can give you them...."
	"No," he stated. "Get away from me."
	He ran into the clearing and saw Tails and Robotnik still 
fighting. Tails X was cheering on Robotnik. "STOP!" Sonic 
yelled.
	"WHAT IS IT?!" Robotnik asked.
	Sonic pointed to Kit. "SHE IS SONIC X!"
	Robotnik giggled. "Explain."
	"SHE GOT INTO SONIC X'S BODY WHEN WE WERE 
CHOKING HER. THEN SHE RAN AWAY, GOT OUT, TIED HIM UP, 
AND TRANSFORMED INTO HIM!"
	There was an eerie silence. "Oh," Robotnik said, 
absolutely clueless.
	Kit walked over to Sonic and put her hand on his 
shoulder. "I love fooling you guys."
 	Sonic pulled away again. He was about the say 
something when they heard something rustling in the bushes 
over by Robotnik and Tails. 
	Tails ran over to Sonic. "What is that?"
	Kit's eyes went wide. "He's back."
	Sonic X's red eyes showed through the trees. He entered 
the clearing, fists clenched. "You are dead."
	"I SAVED TAILS! I'M A HERO!" she protested as everyone 
left the clearing and watched from the trees.
	"I don't give a crap. You only saved him so you could kill 
him yourself."
	"Yeah?" she said, smiling.
	"Now I'm going to beat you to a pulp before you even 
get the chance."	
	He walked towards her. She pulled out Tail's claws. "No 
no no my little friend!"
	He stopped. "You don't scare me."
	"Hedgehog puree's on the menu Sonic X, am I'm hungry 
for some blood!"
	"GET AWAY!" someone cried from Sonic's direction. Binx 
walked out into the clearing, holding a crucifix. 
	"AAAAAA!" Kit screamed, covering her eyes. "NOOOO!"
	Binx knew that vampires hated crucifixes. "Leave now!"
	Kit transformed into a mirror. She wasn't affected by the 
crucifix. 
	Binx threw down the crucifix and walked over to Sonic. "I 
can't stay."
	"Why not?" Tails asked.
	"Uncle Chuck's on the phone."
	"REALLY?!" Sonic yelled.
	"Yes, but he won't say where he is or anything."
	"I have to talk to him."
	"Take care of Kit first," she said, running towards the 
cabins.
	Kit transformed back into herself and laughed. "This is 
getting fun!"
	"This is getting a little out of hand," Sonic X said, walking 
towards her again.
	Kit took out her claws and held them at Sonic X's chest. 
"Such a nice-looking man like you shouldn't have to die."
	"I won't, you will. Now hand over the claws, fair fight."
	"Life isn't fair."
	Sonic X grabbed the claws and ripped them off of her 
hands. "You aren't fair."
	She frowned and watched as everyone closed in on 
her. "It didn't work before, it isn't going to work this time." Kit 
transformed into a black dove and flew away.
	"Black dove?" Sonic X asked.
	"Weird," Robotnik said, walking away.
	Tails walked up to Robotnik and spun him around. "Don't 
bother coming to Mile's funeral."
	"I will be there."
	Tails frowned. "You better not cause trouble."
	He smiled. "I won't little fox."
	They walked their separate ways, Tails was hoping that 
they wouldn't show up.

			Chapter 5

	The next day Tails woke up and saw a patch of white 
doves sitting on the window sill. Then he saw a black one. 
"Get out of here!" he screamed.
	"Caw caw! You're going to pay! Caw caw!" the bird 
said as it grabbed Sonette's skull without warning and flew away.
	Sonic walked in with his wedding tuxedo on. 
"@Memories, like the dirt spots on my tuxedo@! Hey, the skull is gone."
	"Don't try and cheer me up. I can't stand to see my 
brother, so young, in a coffin. And the skull, I really could care less
right now."
	Sonic put his arm around Tails. "Be strong my man. I'll be 
there with you."
	Binx walked in with a black sequin dress and Sally 
walked in with a black skirt and black blouse. "We better get 
ready to go,  the funeral starts in about an hour and we have 
to get everything settled," Binx said, helping Tails to the 
limousine.
	
	The church was quiet and the casket was closed. It was 
going to open once the funeral started. Sonic hugged Rocky 
as Rocky began to cry. "He was like a brother....he was like a 
brother...."
	Sally saw Dolcia and Pierre sitting by themselves in the 
back. Dolcia was crying. Sally tried to comfort her. "He was so 
innocent. He loved Tails so much."
	Pierre looked around for Tails. "How is he?"
	"He's all right now. But this morning he said that he might 
not make it through the whole mass. Poor thing."
	"He tried to stop him?" Dolcia asked.
	"Yes, but he panicked and felled to the ground. That girl 
Kit got the best of him. Even Robotnik, Sonic X, Tails X, and 
Destiny tried to help. They're coming."
	Dolcia and Pierre went pale. 
	"Don't worry, they can't do anything in a church."
	 "Yes they can," Tails said behind her. "Sonic X blew up 
half of us in a church."
	Sally helped Tails to his seat. "They won't do anything," 
she said looking for them. She spotted them in the back. 
Robotnik waved to Sally, but she didn't return it.
	The church bell rang, and everyone stood up. The priest, 
dressed in white with a black collar, walked down the aisle. 
He stopped at Mile's coffin and blessed it.
	"MILES!" Tails said, crying. Sonic tried to comfort him.
	The priest made it to the podium. "My friends, we are 
here to remember Miles as not just a fighter, but a lover of all 
creation...." the priest went on. When it came time to open 
the coffin, Sonic made sure that Tails was at the end of the 
line. He could not see Miles inside the coffin from where he 
was standing. Robotnik and the others just sat in the back, 
huddled in a little ball, whispering. 
	Sonic escorted Tails up to the coffin. Tails took one look 
in a began screaming. "NO! OH GOD......PLEASE....." he 
collapsed in front of the coffin, holding his head in his hands. 
Sonic helped him up. Tails put his hands on the side of the 
coffin for support. The priest helped him up too. 
	"Father, can I give him a kiss?"
	The priest smiled. "Of course my friend."
	The priest leaned Tails over the coffin. Sonic tried to 
pulled him back a little. "We don't want him in the coffin, do 
we?" Sonic joked nervously. 
	The priest gave Tails a shove and closed the casket. 
"HELP! HELP ME!" Tails said, pounding on the lid. "I CAN'T 
BREATH!"
	"HA HA HA HA HA HA!" the priest laughed. He ran onto 
the altar and transformed into Kit. "I TOLD YOU TAILS!" I TOLD 
YOU SO!"
	Sonic ran up onto the altar, followed by Robotnik and 
the others. They jumped onto Kit and she started to scream. 
She suddenly stopped. Tails X jumped off and fell onto his 
knees. "NOT AGAIN!"
	They all ran over and tried to open the casket, It 
wouldn't budge.
	"My knife!" Robotnik shouted. He pulled it out and 
started chopping up the casket. It opened, and the knife laid 
in between Tails legs. 
	"That was close..." Tails said, relieved.
	The coffin was totaled. Sonic and Sonic X carried it out. 
and placed Miles onto a cloth. They wrapped him up in it and 
buried him next to the church. They ran back in and saw 
everyone talking about how they could defeat Kit.
	"Gun?"
	"Nah."
	"Knife?"
	"Tried."
	Tails X and Destiny couldn't figure out a way. 
	When it got late, Sonic called it a night. Everyone 
walked out except for Sonic, who took one last look at the 
altar. His eyes glared red. 
	Kit's voice entered his. "They'll never suspect a thing...." 
she said, smiling. Sonic's voice returned. "Tails was close, but I 
guarantee, next time, HE WON'T BE AS LUCKY."
